What to Do When Your Router Has No Internet

Is your Wi-Fi connected but no internet? Don’t worry — follow these steps to fix it.

1. Restart your router

  • Unplug your router from power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
  • Wait 2–3 minutes for the internet light to turn on.

2. Check if other devices have internet

  • Try another phone, laptop or tablet on the same network.
  • If other devices work, restart the one having the issue.

3. Check your internet plan

  • Confirm your ISP isn’t reporting any outages in your area.
  • If your bill is unpaid, your internet may have been suspended.

4. Check cables and connections

  • Check if the WAN light is on on your router.
  • If the WAN light isn’t on, make sure the internet cable is securely plugged into the router’s WAN (Internet) port.

5. Check if your router has reset

  • Check if you can still see your usual Wi-Fi name.
  • If not, check that your router is powered on.
  • If you see a different Wi-Fi name — like a default router name — your router has reset. Contact your internet provider for reconfiguration.

6. Call your ISP for help

If none of these steps work, your Internet Service Provider may have a problem on their end. Give them a call.

Following these steps can solve most internet issues.
